DEATH IN ROME, 24.XII.2025

Lyrics:

ANGEL
From the ruins of a holy dome
In a box with soap and tokens
I brought an angel to my home
And his wings were badly broken

I sensed a feeling so uncalled
As he glanced me with devotion
So I pressed into his gentle palm
A vial of scented potion

I beg you please forgive me
I wished to ask him
That in between the doorways
He’d help me imagine
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by

Then we kept our eyes upon the sky
Watching birds in flight above us
Discussing God as time went by
And common games of playing soldiers

It was so strangeI could not see his face
He tried to keep it covered
I guess he envied all the birds their grace
For they could fly unfettered

I beg you please forgive me
I wished to ask him
That in between the doorways
He’d help me imagine
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by

When he told me news beside my bed
By the windows of my chamber
I forged him a pair of angel wings
From a brass shell burned like amber
And so my angel left and gone
He flew away right through the window
But my friend will make me another one
From my helmet,cold and sorrow
I beg you please forgive me
I wished to ask him
That in between the doorways
He’d help me imagine
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by
What awaits me
And won’t pass me by
